Some history about Fiskebrygga.
It started with small stalls were
the fish traders had to stay outdoors all year around. Mostly they
sold mackerel and herring during the winter while they were waiting
for the Christmas cod. Pedersen, the fish traders, was the only one
that survived in this marked and they built the first stages of
Fiskebrygga that stands today.
The type and amount of fish grow
and they started to sell lutefisk (dried codfish prepared in a
potash lye). The store on the opposite side of the street sold
mild cured cod, and as loyal the people was then, they could not
sell that on Fiskebrygga.
Freddy Larsen, that runs and own
Fiskebrygga today are fourth generation fish trader in this company.
He is the first that run and own the company single handed. In 1994
we got cash register, maybe as the last store in town. Before that
we just kept the money in drawers underneath the counter.
In 1995 the parking lot was made
into a outdoor restaurant, the opening hours for the restaurant was
then depending on the weather conditions. We also added one section
on the building so we got toilet for the restaurant. Then we got
space for a cold store as well. Since this new section fitted so
well in and was painted straight away, there were few people that
made notice of that Fiskebrygga had become bigger.
In 2003 another section was built,
in addition to that, the fish store got a make over as well.
The weather conditions doesn't
matter anymore. Now we have air condition, fresh drinks and allot of
good food to sell and serve.
We hope you will enjoy your stay
at Fiskebrygga !
Best regards, Freddy and his staff
